Ebell Long Beach

Long Beach, California

celestial, fall wedding at

I don't think I will ever get over the magic that Mia and Michael dreamed up for their wedding day at the historical Ebell Long Beach. They chose this architectural masterpiece for the beautiful internal and external tiles, textures and design. They leaned into the classic vibes with a black tux and stunning lace Vivienne Atelier gown. Everything from the light fixtures down to the beautiful black and white tile work makes this space one of a kind.

Some of my favorite parts of this venue are...

+ the natural light that floods the main ceremony space
+ the dark wood parlor room
+ the antique but classic furniture that gives old money vibes
+ the entry stairs and large doors
+ the soft natural light in the bridal suite

Getting Married at the Ebell Long Beach

Since this venue features the getting ready spaces, ceremony and reception all in one location you can expect a smooth, stress free timeline from morning to night. Even though it's surrounded by busy streets, you'd never know once you step inside. It's peaceful, architecturally stunning and has more than enough photo location options indoors.

This venue includes the entire space and catering. You'll need to source your own photo, video, floral, rentals and DJ. This really allows you to create whatever day you'd like.

Wedding Photography at the Ebell Long Beach

The Ebell Long Beach has a wide variety of lighting situations. While the ceremony space features stunning natural sky lights, the reception and parlor rooms areas require a photographer with skill in natural low light and flash photography. Even in the thick of summer this venue will require flash during your reception and you should hire a team accordingly. The perk of needing flash is the creative motion blur, shutter drag and very Pinterest worthy imagery that you'll see in our full gallery below.

When looking for where to take your formal portraits, there are two main options. First, at the altar. This space is large enough to take all your family and wedding party photos, plus it has wonderful natural light. Second, outside on the steps with the building in the background. This location is stunning but harder to accomplish because depending on the time of day and the season you are getting married in, this spot may be in full direct sunlight (and no one wants squinting photos). As for your personal couples portraits, there are dozens of spots to choose from. Not a single corner of the space isn't photogenic. Notable mentions are the staircase, the top balcony, the parlor room antique furniture and the alcove in the reception space next to all the paintings.
